Collection: Hepplewhite Handles & Drawer Pulls

Antique Hepplewhite Handles are a neoclassic form. Thus, intricate lines, sweeping curves and pleasing proportions defined the drawer pulls of this era. These Federal style handles are sheet brass. Designs are stamped into the brass thereby creating embossed shapes. They display classic scenes, acorns, leaves and circular motifs. Hepplewhite drawer pulls are most often oval in shape. Sizes tended to be slightly smaller than those of the past period. Bail-handles mimic the oval shaped backplates. Bail swings from posts. This is a truly elegant style. These classic drawer pulls enhance both new and old furniture.

An English cabinet maker, by the name of George Hepplewhite, created this style. After becoming popular in England, his designs crossed the Atlantic. They then took America by storm. So, this took place in the late 1800's. Thus began the Federal Period. Furniture styles changed to reflect these trends. It often had a French splayed foot, curved apron and/or serpentine front.
