Half Mortise Box Lock Measurement Diagram

Rounded Furniture Locks are an economical style, specific to some 19th - 20th century furniture. Use on drawers and doors hinged on right. Their polished steel construction and light weight characteristics are authentic to the late 1800's into the 1900's.  These are an early style "machine" lock easily installed in mortises cut by routers or machinery. The lock has an angled selvedge edge seen on many furniture pieces from this time frame. Strike not included as not required.

This is a very reasonably priced lock, as such: locking mechanism is average, not as smooth as finer made brass locks, yet is serviceable. Made in Asia. If using on doors please select according to side door is hinged on.

    Replacing Half Mortise Locks

Keyhole location measurement is critical. Replacement lock-keyhole-location must match location of keyhole in furniture.

To measure: easiest to measure old lock, if you have it:

    • Lock Keyhole Location: distance between selvedge-edge - where bolt shoots through, to lock pin. This measurement is known as the backset.
    • Furniture Keyhole Cutout Location: distance between furniture-edge to estimated location of lock pin in furniture keyhole.

    Right lock, wrong size

I ordered the lock I believed I needed for an antique display cabinet (using the very handy guide made available) but through my own fault I got the wrong size. (The size I need is apparently not available).
The response I got to questions was fast and helpful. The offer to return the lock was appreciated but I ultimately used it to fabricate repairs on the old lock.
Cant recommend them enough for their product quality and customer service.

    Great Customer Service

Needed to replace the locking mechanism on a vintage makeup table I am refurbishing and was having difficulties finding my way around the web site for antique locks and key lock inserts. Some of the best telephone support I have received lately from purchasing items on-line. Called and talked to a representative whom helped me navigate their website to find the items I needed. Will be ordering from Paxton again.

    Worked perfectly

Bought these for an old chest that someone had taken out. The holes on the chest did not match perfectly, but not a problem for me to modify installation. Very pleased with product!
