Additional Jewelry Box Locks | Finding an exact match for an old lock is not always possible, as only a limited amount of sizes are now made. |
Jewelry Box Locks are a half mortise type. This style is used on many new and antique jewelry boxes. The small scale of this particular lock is choice for little boxes, game chests and silver cases.
These beautifully crafted half-mortise locks are hardworking. They are brass with a stee box and brass strike. The German-mechanism is secured with key. When installing, lock fits into a partial cut out in box interior. Attach strike to underside of lift lid. When closing lid, center-post of strike drops down into top of lock, securing box. Made in Germany
The backset measurement is necessary if selecting a replacement lock:
- If you have original lock: measure distance between top edge of lock to lock pin in center of keyhole. This measurement is known as the backset.
- If original lock is not available, determine backset by measuring: distance from center of keyhole (where lock pin will be) to top edge of box.
- The replacement lock's backset measurement must match location of keyhole in furniture.
