Brass Box Locks are a traditional choice for securing antique and vintage chests and boxes. Crafted with durability in mind, these locks are expertly constructed with a brass face plate, strike, and a steel lock box that is riveted to the plate. The locking mechanism features a single lever design for ease of use.

These are half mortise type locks for lift lid furniture. Once installed, lock is fitted into a partial cut out in box interior. Strike attaches underneath surface of lid. When lid is closed, strike drops down into lock. Key turns one lever mechanism to secure lid. Once installed, lock is hidden from exterior view. Made in England.

Install Considerations
  1. Lock installs into a partial cut out on furniture interior. In closed position, lock is not seen.
  2. Strike attaches underneath surface of lid.
The backset measurement is necessary if selecting a replacement lock:
  • If you have original lock: measure distance between top edge of lock to lock pin in center of keyhole. This measurement is known as the backset.
  • If old lock not available, determine backset by measuring: distance from center of keyhole (where lock pin will be) to top edge of box.
  • The backset measurement of the replacement lock, must match backset measurement in original lock and/or keyhole location measurement in drawer or cabinet door.
