These glass lamp shades are made in the traditional manner that was used by American manufacturers from the 1800s into the 1900s. They are handblown in a mold by skilled craftsmen. In this historic process two lampshades are blown together as one unit. The center of this unit is then cut in half thereby creating 2 individual shades. Cutting them apart creates a slightly rough base, this is not a flaw. As this process uses authentic glass blowing techniques the glass may exhibit minor imperfections representative of old glass. Glass-thickness can slightly vary, mildly affecting size and weight of lampshade. If needing a pair please order together to assure match. Each shade receives hand-painted blue rose design, then undergoes a secondary firing to permanently set the decoration. Glossy finish. These shades are uniquely American made.
