Hepplewhite Drawer Pulls - Federal furniture handles are a truly functional and elegant style. These oval cabinet pulls offer a neoclassic design with intricate lines, sweeping curves and pleasing proportions. The size of this style tended to be slightly smaller than those of the prior period. Each is made of sheet brass, a new manufacturing method. Designs are crisply stamped into the brass thereby creating embossed shapes. They display classic scenes, acorns, leaves and circular motifs. These oval cabinet pulls have a bail that swings from two posts. Choose polished or antique finishes. They are beautifully made to enhance both new and old furniture. Use with brass keyhole covers.
An English cabinet maker, by the name of George Hepplewhite, created this style. After becoming popular in England, his designs crossed the Atlantic. They then took America by storm in the late 1700's. Thus began the Federal Period. Furniture styles were updated to reflect these new trends. A French splayed foot, curved apron and serpentine front chest became popular.
