A chimney is a glass cylinder-like globe used on an oil lamp to control and protect flame and direct smoke upward.

  • Select a lamp chimney by bottom diameter which is known as the fitter.
  • This bottom fitter is measured outside edge to outside edge of chimney base. Most burners have a narrow seat for chimney to rest on. 
  • Height is a matter of personal taste. A typical chimney rises 2″-4″ above top of lamp shade.
  • If having trouble getting an accurate diameter. Test by cutting a ring to needed diameter. Slip down over burner to check fit.
  • Fit: The chimney should put slight pressure on the tines of the chimney-holder or burner which in turn holds the oil lamp chimney in a stable position. This ensures a proper updraft enabling the burner to function correctly. Make sure it fits securely if using on an oil lamp.

Description

Lox-On Aladdin style Lamp Chimneys are specifically designed for use with Aladdin lamps. The unusual design features raised notches in the base to securely hold the chimney in place.  As this design is unique, they can only be used with Aladdin style burners. These burners have ridges for the lox-on notches to slide under and catch on. Chimney is easily installed by twisting into holder.
