    Half Mortise Lock Diagram

    Antique Furniture Locks are a classic type for drawers and doors hinged on left.  They are great replacement locks due to their authentic detailing and appearance. Locks of this type were used on many periods of furniture. This vintage style are known as half mortise locks. Lock has steel box and brass plate. Made In England. 

    Strikes were rarely used with this type half mortise lock as wood was notched to accept bolt. However if preferred a brass strike  is available separately.

    When using on doors: select according to side door is hinged on. Please note: keyholes are off-center requiring lock to be positioned accordingly when using on drawers. Left and right hand style of same lock size are keyed alike.

    Replacing Half Mortise Locks

    Keyhole location measurement is critical.Replacement lock-keyhole-location must match location of keyhole in furniture.

    To measure: easiest to measure old lock, if you have it:

    • Lock Keyhole Location: distance between selvedge-edge - where bolt shoots through, to lock pin. This measurement is known as the backset.
    • Furniture Keyhole Cutout Location: distance between furniture-edge to estimated location of lock pin in furniture keyhole.
