Oval Bed Bolt Covers, Polished

The bolts on our farmhouse four-post bed were not centered on the post and located close to the inside of the post. These brass oval-shaped bolt covers fit the bill perfectly. Very beautiful, extremely good quality and service all the way around.

The bed bolt covers are good quality cast brass, with a good polished finish. They are just a bit on the petite side, but do cover the one inch hole I put in the bed posts to access the bolt head. A little trick I use may be helpful to other cabinetmakers out there. I use a square 3/8 nut let into the rail, and when doing my final fit assembly, put just a bit of polyurethane glue into the nut mortice and let it dry before taking the bed apart. The nut stays in place, and prevents it falling out, and makes assembly easier in the future. On the beds I sell, I use a matching grain rectangular plug in the nut mortice and flush it before finishing the rail. Makes for a very neat rail.
