These glass lamp shades are made in the traditional manner that was used by American manufacturers from the 1800s into the 1900s. They are handblown in a melon shaped mold by skilled craftsmen. In this historic process two lampshades are blown together as one unit. The center of this unit is then cut in half thereby creating 2 individual shades. Cutting them apart creates a slightly rough base, this is not a flaw. As this process uses authentic glass blowing techniques the glass may exhibit minor imperfections representative of old glass.

• Use this shade style with a shade ring, tripod or spider for support.
• The support portion of the shade-holder should correspond to the shade's fitter size.
• Shade-fitter size is the outside diameter of the lampshade base. It is typically slightly less than 10" and often varies from shade to shade as shades are created by hand.
• This 10" size is commonly seen on 9" - 10-1/2" height lamp bases.
