White Hobnail Lampshades are a unique design. The embossed hobnail pattern is a series of raised bumps covering the shade's surface in a structured order. They are made of a beautiful, luminous white opal glass that is striking both lit and unlit. Although a favorite style dating from the late 1800's, they gained huge popularity in the 1950's. Use on glass, brass and nickel oil lamps. They are an excellent choice when restoring antique lamps. Made in America.

These glass lamp shades are made in the traditional manner that was used by American manufacturers from the 1800s into the 1900s. They are handblown in a mold by skilled craftsmen. In this historic process two lampshades are blown together as one unit. The center of this unit is then cut in half thereby creating 2 individual shades. Cutting them apart creates a slightly rough base, this is not a flaw. As this process uses authentic glass blowing techniques the glass may exhibit minor imperfections representative of old glass. Glass-thickness can slightly vary, mildly affecting size and weight of lampshade. If needing a pair please order together to assure match. Glossy finish. These shades are uniquely American made.
