Half Mortise Box Locks

Jewelry Box Locks are a great size for small boxes, silver chests and game cases. This lock is well made with a dependable lever mechanism. The quality is evident. Key has decorative shape. Once installed, lock is hidden from exterior view. 

Half mortise lock is for lift lids. Use on small boxes. When installed, this lock fits into a partial cut out in box interior. Strike attaches underneath surface of lid. When lid is closed, strike drops down into lock. Key turns one lever mechanism to secure lid.

This lock is crafted with durability in mind. It is expertly constructed with a brass face plate and strike. The lock body and locking mechanism is steel.  Lock box is riveted to the faceplate. Made in England.

Install Considerations

• Install this half mortise lock into a partial cut out on box interior. In closed position, lock is not seen.
• Strike attaches underneath surface of lid.
• If you have original lock: measure distance between top edge of lock to lock pin in center of keyhole. This measurement is known as the backset.
• If old lock not available, determine backset by measuring: distance from center of keyhole (where lock pin will be) to top edge of box.
• The backset measurement of the replacement lock, must match backset measurement in original lock and/or keyhole location measurement in drawer or cabinet door.
