    Antique Finish Caster
    Matching Polished Brass Casters

Antique Old Style Brass Casters are an early design from the mid 1800's. Originally they were used on table and chair legs.

These old style furniture casters are reproduced to match originals. Each is solid brass crafted from substantial castings.  Finish is antique, it is darkened to look old.  Old style brass casters are defined by the unusual distinctly shaped stem that is short and thick.  Caster swivels at swivel-joint between fork and leg plate.

    Install Casters

Load Capacity, caster strength and stability is directly related to correct installation. If a caster is incorrectly installed it will-not be strong or serviceable.

    • Old-style thick stem requires larger mounting hole than standard casters. It must fit tightly into drilled hole, in furniture leg, with as little play as possible.
    • Round caster-plate adds additional support under furniture leg. Attach with 3 wood screws.

    Perfect Replacement

One of the old casters snapped in half at the base of my victorian parlor chair. I ordered this for a replacement after carefully comparing the measurements. The stem was a little wider than the original, so I followed another buyer's advise about gently widening the hole by scraping the sides with a screwdriver. Worked well and gentle way to take out just a little at a time as needed. I made sure there was enough wood removed so that the stem wouldn't put undue pressure on the old wood. My chair foot felt a little fragile, so I strengthened it with a little epoxy solution before installing the new castor.

Castor was the exact same design as the original so other than widening the hole a bit, installation was super easy. Chair is now good as new (Old) :) Would definitely purchase again. Quality is great and shipping was quick.

    Perfect Match!

These casters are a perfect match in form, fit, and function to the old ones. We have a vintage dining room table that’s been in my wife’s family for generations, but over time several of the casters were damaged or lost, making the table unstable. With these replacements installed, the table has been returned to service and we successfully used it for a family Thanksgiving dinner. Very happy with this purchase.

Almost identical to the remaining wheel on my table. Replaced all. Very happy. Arrived in 2 days.

    Perfect Touch

These casters were the perfect finishing touch for an antique walnut drop leaf table that one of my grandfathers built many years ago. The table had been saved from a fire and had suffered some damage and had been in storage when we received it and my husband refinished it. 3 out of 4 casters were damaged and we opted to find a good replacement for the casters and the Paxton Old Style Antique Brass Caster is perfect.
