Description

Porcelain Wheel Casters were highly favored during the Victorian era, frequently used on walnut chairs and marble-topped tables. Faithful to the original style, this swivel caster improves furniture mobility while the elegant blend of brass and porcelain offers a refined accent to furniture. Plate-type design provides added support, as the plate that the leg sits on, distributes the weight creating a more stability and a secure connection.

If updating vintage furniture, replace all casters. This insures uniform height, style & appearance.

Material & Finish

These historic casters are authentically reproduced with a solid brass fork and glazed white ceramic wheel. The brass has a polished shine but is not lacquered. Overtime it will develop a pleasing patina. The wheel is made of a durable ceramic material which is covered in a hard white glaze. Caster swivels at swivel-joint between fork and leg plate. Each is sturdy and durable and provides excellent load-bearing capability.

Install

Install Plate Type Caster

Casters should be installed perpendicular to the floor.
Drill hole, depth of steel drive stem, using drill bit a hair smaller in diameter than caster stem.
Gently tap threaded drive stem up into leg. Stem should fit snug but not tight, in hole.
Outside diameter of mounting plate should not be larger than furniture leg diameter. Mark location of plate screw holes in bottom of leg.
Remove caster. Pre-drill pilot holes for brass screws.
Insert caster stem back up into leg.
Attach caster plate to bottom of furniture leg with screws. Stem keeps caster from wobbling. Screws hold caster to furniture leg

Load Capacity, caster strength and stability is directly related to correct installation. If a caster is incorrectly installed it will-not be strong or serviceable.

Exactly what I needed

I needed to replace broken casters on an old dining table and these were the closest match to the originals. (I was unable to find an exact match anywhere because the table was so old.)
