Brass Box Lock for Lift Lid, 5/8 inch to pin

The Brass Box Lock offers a traditional solution for fastening antique and vintage chests or boxes. The single lever locking mechanism that ensures straightforward operation. When installed, the lock remains concealed from the outside, preserving the piece's original aesthetic.

Half mortise lock is for lift lids. Use on chests, trunks and boxes. To install, this brass box lock fits into a partial cut out in box interior. Strike attaches underneath surface of lid. When lid is closed, strike drops down into lock. Key turns one lever mechanism to secure lid.

• If replacing an old lock, BACKSET SIZE is critical, as keyhole in lock and furniture must line up together.
• Backset- Distance To Pin: 5/8"
• Lock Plate: 1-1/2" wide x 1" high
• Selvedge: 1-1/2" x 3/8"

Finding an exact match for an old lock is not always possible, as only a limited amount of sizes are now made.

This lock is crafted with durability in mind. It is expertly constructed with a brass face plate and strike. The lock body and locking mechanism is steel.  Lock box is riveted to the faceplate. Made in England.

• Install this half mortise lock into a partial cut out on furniture interior. In closed position, lock is not seen.
• Strike attaches underneath surface of lid.
• If replacing an old lock: measure distance between top edge of lock to lock pin in center of keyhole. This measurement is known as the backset.
