Half mortise lock is for lift lids. Use on chests, trunks and boxes. To install, this brass box lock fits into a partial cut out in box interior. Strike attaches underneath surface of lid. When lid is closed, strike drops down into lock. Key turns one lever mechanism to secure lid. Once installed, lock is hidden from exterior view. Made in England.
Install Considerations
- Install this half mortise lock into a partial cut out on furniture interior. In closed position, lock is not seen.
- Strike attaches underneath surface of lid.
- If replacing an old lock: measure distance between top edge of lock to lock pin in center of keyhole. This measurement is known as the backset.
