Antique Victorian Dresser Handles have a decorative, open scroll designed backplate. This patterned design exposes the wood's natural beauty. Originating on Victorian furniture, this style was also used on Golden Oak styles.
Victorian Dresser Handles are made of cast brass. Finish is antique. It is darkened to look old. The antique finish is hand applied and may vary from one to the next. This slight variations in color provides a natural and more authentic appearance.
The backplate and handle made from a brass casting. Therefore they will-not bend and are-not recommended for serpentine shaped drawers.
I have an old Victorian sideboard that I got from my mother-in-law. Apparently, it had been mediocrely refinished and they put Chippendale drawer pulls on it. Those have bugged me for a couple years. I finally found these Victorian drawer pulls. I did my best to match the design style and the lock casings. These fit the style so much better, though they’re not as big as the original ones that would have been on sideboard. I can see through the refinish where they extended. These are very pretty, however.
The only thing that I’m not a big fan of is that they just have a small nut on the back that’s inside the drawer so that the screw hangs out Inside the drawer. I wish it had a cap type of screw on it instead, because that rough edge of the screw sticking out could possibly snag or scratch something I put in the drawer. If the nut loosens at all, which is difficult to tighten fully, the handle can slide off because it’s not an attached part of the pull. Maybe that’s the way they were made in the day? I have photos, but no way to add them to this review. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase.
We try to provide authentic hardware whenever possible. These pulls including the eyebolt and nut are copies of original Victorian pulls. This style post was repeatedly used on drawer pulls from this time period.
If needed: Cut bolts shorter with hacksaw or wire cutters. Before cutting, screw nut onto bolt above intended cut. After cut, work nut up and down cut edge, to straighten threads.
very pleased with this purchase
I refinished an antique oak dresser and the handles I purchased almost matched the one still on the dresser. Excellent service.
Ordered bronze hardware for chest and tables. Product arrived extremely fast and was as advertised. Would definitely use Paxton Hardware again.
