Half Mortise Lock for Lift Lids

The Brass Box Lock is a classic solution for securing antique and vintage chests and boxes. It utilizes a single lever locking mechanism, ensuring simple and reliable operation. When installed, the lock remains concealed from the outside, preserving the item's aesthetic integrity.

Half mortise lock is for lift lids. Use on chests, trunks and boxes. To install, this brass box lock fits into a partial cut out in box interior. Strike attaches underneath surface of lid. When lid is closed, strike drops down into lock. Key turns one lever mechanism to secure lid.

If replacing an old lock, BACKSET SIZE is critical, as keyhole in lock and furniture must line up together.

  • Backset- Distance To Pin: 13/16"
  • Overall Width: 2-1/2"
  • Overall Height: 1-3/8"
  • Selvedge: 1/2" x 2-1/2"
More Box Lock Sizes:

Many vintage lock sizes are no longer made. As a result it may not be possible to exactly match an old lock.
